Healthy Coaching

What Constitutes A Healthy Coaching Relationship?

Initially, a healthy coaching client is someone who wants some sort of change or shift and could benefit from someone who is expert in personal and/or group development. The client works with the coach to identify a desired goal/change(s), develop a plan for the achievement of the goal/change(s) (with measures for the achievement of the goal/changes) and assists in the process of growth, achievement and evolution.

Beyond the initial work, healthy coaching is a sort of ongoing delegation by the client to coach. A client who is learning and developing and still wishes to avail him/herself of someone who is studying personal/group development and acquiring wisdom through other coaching relationships is delegating an important task to an strategic partner.

Problems begin when a client becomes dependent on a coach in any way. I will refer clients to other support professionals, or discontinue coaching, if it seems appropriate or necessary.
